Motorcyclists and pillion riders can soon use QR codes at immigration checkpoints.
From 15 August 2024, riders can present one group QR code for immigration clearance instead of scanning two passports.
This new feature will be available at Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints.
The QR code system is part of ICA’s efforts to make travel processes smoother.

Benefits of the New System
The QR Code checkpoint will reduce immigration clearance time by about 30%.
It helps riders avoid exposing their passports to rain or other bad weather.
Travellers must still carry their passports as ICA may need to check them.
At Malaysian checkpoints in Johor Bahru, travellers must show their passports unless they are Malaysian citizens.
Enhancements to Biometric System
ICA has also made improvements to the Biometric Identification of Motorbikers System (Bikes).
The system now has light strips at immigration counters to show when fingerprints are captured successfully.
These visual cues help make the process clearer for travellers.
The Bikes system, along with QR code clearance, aims to speed up border crossing for motorcyclists.
Important Reminders for Travellers
Motorcyclists should remember to bring their Singapore passports even when using the QR code system.
The QR code checkpoint is only for clearing Singapore checkpoints.
At Malaysian checkpoints, most travellers still need to show their passports.
The new QR code system for motorcyclists at Singapore checkpoints aims to make cross-border travel faster and more convenient from 15 August 2024.
