Announcement of 2025 Budget Statement
In a press release by MOF, the date for Singapore’s FY2025 Budget Statement has been set.
Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Mr Lawrence Wong, will deliver the statement on Tuesday, 18 February 2025, at 3.30pm in Parliament.
This announcement, made on 3 February 2025, sets the stage for one of the most important financial events in Singapore’s calendar.
The Budget Statement is crucial as it outlines the government’s fiscal policies and economic strategies for the coming year.
Broadcast and Accessibility
To ensure widespread access, the Budget Statement will be broadcast live across various platforms.
Viewers can tune in to Channel 5, CNA, CNA938, and Capital 958 for real-time coverage.
For those preferring online platforms, the statement will be streamed on the CNA website, YouTube, Facebook, and TikTok channels.
Additionally, the 8 World website, PM’s YouTube, and Facebook will offer coverage, as will Mediacorp’s meWATCH platform.
In a move towards inclusivity, the Singapore Association for the Deaf (SADeaf) will provide simultaneous sign language interpretation on Channel 5.
This effort ensures that the hearing-impaired community can fully engage with this important national event.
Public Feedback and Engagement
The Ministry of Finance and other government agencies have been actively seeking public input since December 2024.
Citizens are encouraged to share their views and suggestions through various channels.
Two in-person Budget Conversations are scheduled for 20 February 2025 and 13 March 2025, in English and Mandarin respectively.
These sessions will feature key figures such as Ms Indranee Rajah and Mr Tan Kiat How, providing citizens with direct access to policymakers.
Recent pay guidelines for low-wage workers may be a topic of discussion during these engagement sessions.
Post-Budget Dialogues and Events
Following the Budget announcement, REACH will organise additional engagement opportunities for public feedback.
These will include physical Listening Points and outdoor panel discussions.
The People’s Association will also arrange post-Budget dialogues for residents.
Registration for these dialogues is open until 12pm on 28 February 2025, offering ample time for interested citizens to sign up.
These events provide a platform for Singaporeans to voice their opinions and seek clarification on Budget matters.
